A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced, professional, and warm individual to join the Housekeeping Team as Assistant Head Housekeeper within a beautiful private country estate, set within the peaceful Northamptonshire countryside. This is a unique opportunity to work in a stunning private household, contributing to the smooth running and presentation of an exceptional country house.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the property, while also supporting the wider household as needed. You will be part of a team of four, comprising the Head Housekeeper and two daily housekeepers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily, weekly, and deep cleaning to an exceptional standard
  • Assisting with laundry and ironing
  • Supporting kitchen duties, including table setting and occasional service when the family entertain
  • Becoming familiar with household security systems and acting as a key holder
  • Providing occasional care for the household dogs when required

Seasonal Duties

  • Supporting preparations when the Hall opens to the public during the summer months (May–September), including assisting in the Tea Rooms
  • Assisting during the shooting season (October–January), helping with hospitality arrangements

Working Hours

The role typically involves a 5 to 5½ day working week, generally Monday to Friday. Flexibility is essential, as weekend work and Public Holiday working will be required during busy periods and when entertaining, with time off in lieu provided.

About You

  • Previous housekeeping experience at a senior level
  • Excellent fully checkable references
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport (essential)
  • DBS clearance required
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical and organised approach
  • A positive, cheerful, and discreet manner
  • Physically fit and able to maintain the housekeeping within a large country house
  • Comfortable working around dogs
  • Non-smoker
