A lovely long-established family home near Burnham Market is seeking an experienced and trustworthy Private Housekeeper to maintain the property to a high standard on a part-time, long-term basis. This is a lovely opportunity for an experienced housekeeper who takes real pride in their work and enjoys keeping a home running smoothly, presented beautifully and well cared for, even when the family are not in residence.

Salary: £17-20ph depending on experience and glowing references

The property: The detached house is spacious, well-loved and carefully maintained, comprising:

  • Hallway
  • Sitting room
  • Downstairs cloakroom
  • Playroom
  • Kitchen and dining area
  • Utility room and small back hall
  • Principal bedroom with en suite bathroom and small dressing room
  • Four further bedrooms
  • Two bathrooms and one shower room

The family have long-standing relationships with trusted contractors, including the same gardener since 2007, and value loyalty, consistency and mutual respect.

The Role: The housekeeper will be required to attend the property for four hours each week, ideally on the same morning each week. The main focus will be maintaining the house to a high standard, keeping everything clean, orderly and well presented, and ensuring the property is checked and cared for when the family are not in residence.

Duties will include:

  • High-standard weekly housekeeping throughout the property (cleaning, dusting, polishing, hoovering, wiping skirting boards)
  • Keeping an eye on the house when unoccupied and alerting the owner to any issues (for example, leaks, maintenance concerns or pest control needs)
  • Advising when cleaning supplies or household items need replenishing
  • Taking bedding to and from the laundry when required
  • When the family are staying at the house, there may occasionally be the opportunity to work additional hours by arrangement. If not, additional cleaning support may be brought in at peak times.
