A rare, long-term opportunity has arisen for a highly accomplished Senior-level Housekeeper to join a warm, busy HNW family at their beautiful 7+ bedroom country home in rural Essex, conveniently located within easy reach of Stansted Airport and excellent transport links to London. This is a pivotal appointment within the household, replacing a much-valued housekeeper of 10 years, and is ideally suited to a traditional housekeeper with proven experience managing a household at a comparable scale and level of responsibility. This role is not suited to a general cleaner. The successful candidate will take pride in managing and maintaining a large, immaculate private home to the very highest standards.

The Role

  • Working within a lovely multi-floor country house, you will take ownership of the day-to-day housekeeping operations, ensuring the home is always presented to an exceptional standard and always family and guest ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the property to impeccable standards of cleanliness and presentation
  • Manage the house independently with minimal supervision
  • Organise and oversee deep cleans and structured housekeeping schedules
  • Implement and maintain efficient household systems and routines
  • Laundry and wardrobe management, including care of fine fabrics and delicate items
  • Maintain household inventory and monitor stock levels of cleaning and household supplies
  • Ensure the home is consistently family and guest ready
  • Liaise with and work alongside the gardener and estate team
  • Childcare, although this is not a nanny role, occasional support when needed would be great
  • Preparing simple, healthy meals to a gluten-free family
  • Uphold the highest levels of discretion, professionalism, and respect for privacy
  • Overseeing security when the family are away and advising status daily to principals

  • Experienced Senior-Level Housekeeper within private households
  • Confident running a large home with minimum supervision, quietly and independently, but happy to take instruction as needed
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Experienced with structured household management and systems
  • Skilled in laundry, wardrobe care, including fine fabrics
