Our Client is an international law firm renowned for its market‑leading expertise in intellectual property, technology, and innovation‑driven sectors. The London IP team continues to expand in response to growing client demand and is seeking a talented IP Associate (3+ PQE) to join the practice. This role offers exposure to high‑profile litigation, complex advisory work, and cross‑border matters for clients ranging from innovative start‑ups to global market leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key member of litigation teams across the High Court, IPEC, and UKIPO.
- Draft pleadings, witness statements, instructions to experts, and correspondence.
- Manage day‑to‑day case strategy, evidence review, and procedural steps.
- Support partners on multi‑jurisdictional disputes, working closely with Bird & Bird’s international offices.
- Draft and negotiate IP‑focused commercial agreements (e.g., licences, R&D agreements, collaboration agreements, technology transfer).
- Advise on IP ownership, protection, exploitation, and enforcement strategies.
- Support corporate transactions on IP due diligence and transactional documents.
Client Engagement
- Work directly with clients across technology, life sciences, media, retail, and telecoms sectors.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor.
- Participate in business development initiatives, thought leadership, and client training.
About You
- 3+ years’ PQE gained at a reputable commercial or IP‑focused law firm.
- Strong background in IP litigation (patents OR soft IP); mixed practice experience is welcome.
- Solid understanding of UK and EU IP frameworks; experience with cross‑border matters advantageous.
