Overview
A rapidly growing international online marketplace is seeking a Compliance Director to support the development and delivery of its UK and European compliance framework.
As the business continues to expand across multiple product categories and markets, this role will play a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, product safety, and sustainable business growth.
Reporting directly to the Head of Compliance, the successful candidate will partner closely with legal, commercial, operations, and risk teams to strengthen compliance governance, mitigate regulatory risks, and promote a culture of accountability across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the European compliance and product safety programme across both food and non-food product categories.
- Assist in developing compliance policies, procedures, monitoring frameworks, and governance structures aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with key stakeholders across Legal, Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Product teams to ensure compliance considerations are embedded into business decision-making.
- Monitor regulatory developments across the UK and Europe, assessing potential business impacts and recommending practical solutions.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and support the design and implementation of controls to mitigate identified risks.
- Coordinate compliance reporting and provide regular updates to senior leadership on key risks, trends, incidents, and remediation activities.
- Support product safety and consumer protection initiatives, including investigations, corrective actions, and regulatory engagement where required.
- Deliver compliance training and awareness programmes to strengthen understanding of regulatory responsibilities across the business.
- Assist with audits, regulatory inspections, and internal reviews, ensuring appropriate documentation and evidence is maintained.
Requirements
- 5+ years' experience within compliance, regulatory affairs, product compliance, risk, or a related governance function.
- Experience working within e-commerce, retail, consumer products, manufacturing, logistics, or a similarly regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of UK and European regulatory frameworks, consumer protection requirements, and product safety obligations.
