Our Client is a leading global industrial manufacturer of critical, engineered components that serve fast‑growing end markets in transportation, flow, energy, aerospace and defence. We are seeking an experienced EMEA Trade Compliance Manager / Export Controls Lead to lead and execute export controls and sanctions compliance across the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute export controls compliance across EMEA, with a primary focus on military and dual‑use exports under UK, EU, German and Netherlands regulations.
  • Act as the regional subject‑matter expert on EU Dual‑Use Regulation and national military export control regimes, providing practical, business‑focused guidance.
  • Advise on classification of military and dual‑use items through detailed review of technical data, specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Determine licensing requirements, support export licence applications and ensure compliance with licence conditions and authorisations.
  • Support compliance for technology transfers and deemed exports, including cross‑border sharing of technical data within multinational teams.
  • Provide EU‑ and UK‑focused sanctions compliance support, including customer, supplier and transaction screening and escalation of potential sanctions issues, including awareness of US extraterritorial controls.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Law, International Trade or a related field.
  • Several years of relevant experience in trade compliance and export controls, gained within a multinational company, law firm or consulting environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of EU Dual‑Use Regulation and UK, German and/or Netherlands military export controls.
  • Proven experience classifying military and dual‑use items, including the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience supporting export licensing and managing ongoing licence compliance.
  • Familiarity with sanctions compliance frameworks and screening processes.
  • Experience with trade management software (e.g. SAP GTS, Amber Road, AEB, ONESOURCE or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of EU customs procedures, including HS classification, origin and movement of goods within Europe.
