Larksfield and Arlesey Medical Partnership is seeking a skilled and compassionate HCA to join our friendly clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HCA who enjoys working in a patient‑focused primary care environment and being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties of the Role

  • Undertake a range of clinical duties including venepuncture, ECGs, NHS Health Checks, wound care, and recording patient observations in line with practice protocols and current clinical guidelines.
  • Support clinicians during consultations, procedures, and examinations where required.
  • Accurately label, process, and store blood samples, ensuring compliance with laboratory, infection control, and health and safety procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, equipment, and medical supplies to ensure safe and effective patient care.
  • Provide reassurance, support, and compassionate care to patients of all ages, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and data entry using the clinical system in line with practice policies and GDPR requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure smooth workflow and effective patient care delivery.
  • Follow all safeguarding, confidentiality, infection prevention, and health and safety procedures.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 2:00pm
  • 25 to 30 hours per week, flexible within this range depending on practice needs

Person Specification / Essential Skills

  • Proven experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within a GP practice, primary care, or clinical setting.
  • Competency in venepuncture, ECGs, wound care, NHS Health Checks, and basic clinical observations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently.
  • Aware of health and safety, infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and data protection standards.

Qualifications

  • Good general standard of education, including literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Care certificate or equivalent for Phlebotomy, Certificate of training for Woundcare, Competency sign offs for ECG's NHS health checks, and part1 health checks such as diabetes.
  • Up to date knowledge of infection control, health and safety, and safe handling of biological samples.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a GP practice or primary care environment.
  • Knowledge of NHS systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Additional training in clinical procedures or healthcare support roles.
