We are delighted to offer a University Year Placement combined between our Business Tax Advisory team and our Private Client, Trust and Probate based at either our Norwich or Ipswich office, depending on the preference of the successful candidate. This placement is ideal for students with a placement year planned between their 2nd and 3rd year of study, and will run during the 2026/2027 academic year. It provides a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in a professional environment.
Qualifications
- Ideally, you’ll be working towards a relevant degree or a professional qualification such as AAT.
- Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language at GCSE or equivalent.
- Competent at using Microsoft packages, internet, email and computerised accounts packages.
Responsibilities
- With support and training, assist with the preparation of self-assessment tax returns for individuals, including residential property capital gains returns.
- Assist with corporation and employment tax compliance for a wide range of businesses.
- Liaise with clients, other departments in the business and HMRC to resolve queries to ensure client expectations and compliance deadlines are met.
- Assist with tax advisory work, including technical research, liaising with others to support the delivery of advice and reports to the client.
- Taking an interest in the client’s values and business needs to develop good working relationships.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently, and organise your workload, particularly in peak periods, ensuring deadlines are met and communicating with the team around you to ensure work flows smoothly.
