The L’Arche Internship is a year‑long experience living in a L’Arche community alongside people with learning disabilities. Interns work as support workers and participate in a training programme focused on care, disability, community development, reflection, and spirituality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 34 hours per week of support and care to community members with learning disabilities.
  • Dedicate 6 hours per week to a bespoke training programme that includes meetings with fellow interns and facilitators to explore topics such as activism, power, personal growth, and change‑making.
  • Apply learning to practice by participating in and developing community activities within your own community.

Candidate Attributes

  • Open to personal growth and relationship building.
  • Confident in taking initiative and working autonomously.
  • Has the right to live and work in the UK (if a visa is required, consider applying as a Live‑in Community Worker).
  • Background or experience in caring is not required; we welcome school leavers, university students, graduates, and those taking sabbaticals.
