L’Arche Kilkenny are seeking a progressive Day Opportunities Co Ordinator. This role will work with our Identity and mission and our Strategic plan, in particular – Growth through quality. This role focuses on active partnership with adults who have an Intellectual disability to have human rights-based support, community participation and active inclusion, and person centred innovation, empowering core members to live self-determined lives aligned to the New Directions framework and fostering a culture of advocacy and independence and interdependence. This role goes beyond just ordinary task/ operational management, focusing on transforming lives through building relationships and social inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Person centred Supports: Develop and implement innovative, personalised programs that promote independence, interdependence and meaningful friendships, and community presence.
  • Community Inclusion: Focus on community embedded activities, ensuring individuals are engaged in local workplaces, education, and leisure opportunities.
  • Human Rights Based: Support core members in vindicating their rights and responsibilities as citizens to self-advocate, ensuring choices and personal goals are at the core of all day support plans.
  • Operational Leadership: Manage teams, budgets, compliance (e.g., practice standards, safeguarding, GDPR) while leading proactive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Partner with families, staff, and external professionals to implement customised support plans.

  • Risk management: Actively encourage and support positive and dynamic risk taking.
  • Sector Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of best practice, creativity in disability supports and quality standards.
  • Communication & Networking: Highly Skilled in building relationships with community stakeholders and employers.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Level 8 Degree in Social Care, Health Care, or a related field.
  • Experienced in working with people who have an intellectual disability and or Autism.
  • Minimum of 2yrs supervisory experience in a management/supervisory position within disability services, community development sectors.
  • A working knowledge of New Directions, Health and Safety regulations, reporting and monitoring approaches.
  • Knowledge of social enterprises/ social entrepreneurs an advantage.
  • Proficient IT skills to include Excel and Word.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Full driving licence.
