An award-winning international law firm is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Business Acceptance to join its growing Risk function. This newly created leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape and drive the firm’s approach to Conflicts and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) across the UK and EMEA, while collaborating closely with colleagues in the US.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the firm's Business Acceptance function, acting as the primary escalation point and overseeing the team.
- Serve as Deputy MLRO, supporting AML and financial crime matters, including internal reports and SARs.
- Liaise with the US Conflicts team and supervise London-based analysts supporting US conflicts processes.
- Monitor and implement changes in relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Act as the firm's Anti-Bribery & Corruption Officer, providing guidance and overseeing gifts and hospitality compliance.
- Oversee preparation of the annual AML Risk Assessment and Independent AML Audit.
- Build strong relationships across business services teams and contribute to operational initiatives.
- Deliver risk and compliance training across the firm as required.
Skills & Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister or an experienced risk professional within a law firm.
- Able to demonstrate understanding of the risks faced by an international commercial law firm.
- Ability to manage the resolution of legal and commercial conflicts of interest with regards to the applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience of the US ABA conflict of interest roles will be an advantage.
- Shares knowledge across the team, and provides ongoing instruction and support.
