The London Borough of Sutton is situated less than 30 minutes by train from Central London, with direct connections to London Victoria and London Bridge. Found in zone 5 with good transport links in and out of London, Sutton boasts award winning parks and open spaces, low crime rates, affordable housing and great schools.
The role is based within the Council’s Climate Action and Emergency Planning team. The postholder will be responsible for delivering and facilitating projects which support the commitments of the Council’s Environment Strategy, Climate Emergency Response Plan and Waste Strategy. This will include working with colleagues, partners and/or the local community to help deliver action on climate change.
Key activities include:
- Develop, support and successfully deliver a range of sustainability projects.
- Inspire and motivate others to deliver climate change and waste minimisation improvements through the provision of communications and community engagement on sustainability issues, both internally and externally.
- Contribute towards networks and themed groups which facilitate action on climate change.
- Monitor the implementation of the council’s Environment Strategy, Climate Emergency Response Plan and Waste Strategy, reporting on the council’s environmental performance; and analyse and report on performance management data gathered.
- Providing environmental advice and support to colleagues regarding projects, commissioning and procurement as well as council policy and strategy.
- Assist and lead in the identification and production of funding bids and other similar opportunities relating to the team business plan, strategy, policy and priorities.
