Senior Laravel Developer

Our client has developed a technology platform that helps businesses understand and improve the performance of their customer conversations.

The platform automatically captures and transcribes calls before applying AI-driven analysis to provide greater visibility across team performance, customer outcomes, compliance and missed opportunities.

By bringing together telephony, CRM integrations and intelligent conversation analysis, the platform transforms large volumes of communication data into meaningful and actionable business intelligence.

Our client is already supporting many organisations across the UK and is now entering an exciting period of continued product development and customer growth.

As part of this next stage, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Laravel Developer who can help scale the platform, strengthen its technical foundations and contribute to the development of the next generation of the product.

The Opportunity

This is a senior, hands-on engineering position offering considerable autonomy and the opportunity to influence both technology and product development.

Working closely with the Lead Engineer, CTO, product team and wider development function, you will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from technical design and architectural decisions through to implementation, testing and production.

You will take ownership of technically complex features, contribute to engineering standards and help ensure the platform remains reliable, maintainable and capable of supporting continued growth.

The core technology stack includes PHP, Laravel, Maria DB, AWS and React/Next. js, alongside an expanding collection of AI classifiers and data-processing pipelines used to analyse substantial volumes of customer conversation data.

The position is primarily backend focused, although experience with modern frontend technologies and the confidence to contribute across the wider application would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and supporting backend applications and services using PHP and Laravel.
  • Taking ownership of new functionality, from initial technical planning and design through to production.
  • Creating and maintaining APIs, CRM integrations and third-party integrations.
  • Working with significant volumes of call recordings, transcripts and wider communications data.
  • Analysing and improving Maria DB/My SQL queries, database design and overall application performance.
  • Developing dependable background processing, queue-based functionality and event-driven workflows.
  • Contributing to the ongoing maintenance, reliability and improvement of the AWS-hosted environment.
  • Investigating complex production incidents, identifying underlying causes and implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Enhancing automated testing, application monitoring, logging and deployment practices.
  • Conducting code reviews and contributing towards clear, consistent and maintainable engineering standards.
  • What Our Client Is Looking For
  • Approximately 5+ years of commercial software development experience, including substantial and recent hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel.
  • A proven background developing and supporting production Saa S applications.
  • Strong knowledge of Laravel architecture, APIs, queues, jobs, events and scheduled processes.
  • Strong SQL capabilities, with practical experience using Maria DB or My SQL.
  • Experience developing systems designed to accommodate growing data volumes, traffic and usage.
  • Practical experience with AWS infrastructure and cloud-based applications.
  • A solid understanding of automated testing, source/version control and modern deployment processes.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work systematically towards the underlying cause of an issue rather than simply addressing symptoms.
  • The confidence to take ownership of technical deliverables and make sound, considered engineering decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience collaborating successfully within a remote software development environment.

Desirable Technical Experience

  • React, Next. js or Type Script.
  • Experience with AI classifiers, large language models or machine-learning pipelines.
  • Working with transcription, telephony or other high-volume communications datasets. Event-driven architectures, Web Sockets or real-time application functionality.
  • Integrations involving CRM, telephony or property-technology platforms.
  • AWS technologies including S3, RDS, EC2, Lambda, ECS and Cloud Watch.
  • Experience working with application security, data protection and GDPR-sensitive systems.
  • Previous technical leadership responsibilities or experience mentoring other developers.
  • What Our Client Offers
  • Fully remote working anywhere within the UK.
  • The opportunity to have a direct impact on architecture, engineering standards and product direction.
  • Close collaboration with the founders and senior leadership team.
  • The chance to work across AI, communications data and complex real-world integrations.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a growing technology product with an established customer base.
  • Excellent benefits package
  • 25 days' annual leave plus UK bank holidays.
