Job Purpose

The VDC Mechanical Coordinator, reporting to the VDC Manager, supports the preparation and coordination of mechanical design documents and BIM models, with a primary focus on HVAC systems and exposure to plumbing coordination. Working closely with Lar-Mex’s project team, the VDC Mechanical Coordinator will assist in developing coordinated mechanical system models and drawings while receiving mentorship and hands‑on training from experienced team members. This role offers valuable exposure to real‑world project coordination and mechanical construction practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in interpreting plans and specifications to support the development of practical and efficient mechanical system designs.
  • Support the preparation of mechanical system drawings, BIM models, and coordination documents with guidance from the VDC team.
  • Assist in coordinating drawings and design information with Project Managers to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with internal project teams, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Help identify and resolve design clashes and coordination issues within BIM models.
  • Work closely with project teams to support accurate and coordinated design documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate models that align with project specifications and installation requirements.
  • Support the preparation of sleeving, layout, and pre‑fabrication drawings for construction teams.
  • Participate in site visits to gain field exposure and assist with drawing verification.
  • Provide regular progress updates to the VDC Manager and seek guidance when required.
  • Support the VDC team in maintaining quality and consistency across project models.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project and team objectives.

Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of mechanical building systems, including HVAC; exposure to plumbing systems is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with BIM software such as Revit and Navisworks through education, co‑op placements, or project work.
  • General understanding of construction drawings and coordination processes.
  • Willingness to learn mechanical coordination practices and develop technical expertise through mentorship and hands‑on experience.

Education:

Degree or diploma in Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Building Systems, BIM Technology, or a related field preferred. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
