LAPORTE is an international engineering group specialising in the design of Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Agri-industrial and Food & Beverage manufacturing facilities. We are seeking to recruit one electrical/instrumentation/control engineer to support our international clients having operations in the UK. This role is based in our London office with up to 50% travel to client sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical engineering conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs, drawings, and specifications (e.g. load list, cable sizing, protective devices, lighting, switchgear, LV distribution, back-up systems, earthing, fire alarms, security systems, etc.);
  • Lead and support automation and control system projects, preparing specifications for control panels, networks, and software (mainly Allen-Bradley PLC/PACs, FactoryTalk View ME/SE, HMI, and SCADA systems).
  • Translate process or packaging applications into detailed electrical and control construction packages, including layout drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and control panel documentation.
  • Provide end-to-end project support: site surveys, system design, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and on-site assistance.
  • Contribute to proposal development, contract management, and client relationship management.
  • Support the growth and training of an EIC (Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control) design team in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and project management abilities, alongside strong technical knowledge.
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering consultancy in the UK, ideally in Bio-industrial, Food and Beverage or Pharmaceutical industries, or other process-driven industries.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
