About This Opportunity

This EASTBIO PhD examines how information about eye position contributes to spatial attention, combining vision science, cognitive neuroscience and brain-imaging perspectives.

Spatial attention depends on visual input and on signals that tell the brain where the eyes are directed. This project investigates how eye-position information contributes to selecting and representing locations in space. The work sits at the intersection of psychology, neuroscience and MRI physics and can combine behavioural experiments with neuroimaging. By comparing attention across different gaze positions, the research will test whether eye-position signals simply recalibrate visual coordinates or contribute more directly to attentional control. Training is supported by St Andrews Vision Labs and the wider Scottish imaging environment.
