We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation across our upper tier COMAH site. Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, you will maintain critical rotating equipment, pressure systems and plant infrastructure. You’ll work under our Permit to Work and LOTOTO systems, carrying out planned, predictive and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure compliance with COMAH and site engineering standards.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned, reactive, preventive and predictive mechanical maintenance.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs to rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, agitators, etc.).
  • Overhaul, disassemble, inspect and reassemble pressure systems, ancillary equipment and heat exchangers.
  • Prepare plant and equipment for statutory inspections, ensuring safe reinstatement.
  • Undertake alignment, lubrication, condition monitoring and mechanical diagnostics.
  • Install, test, commission and maintain pipework, vessels and associated plant equipment.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure safe handover, isolation and recommissioning of equipment.
  • Maintain and update technical records and record activities in SAP CMMS.
  • Participate in Emergency Response Team (ERT) duties as required.
  • Contribute to site safety by identifying hazards, completing RAMS and supporting continual improvement.
  • Complete multidisciplinary working to support the needs of the production units where trained and competent.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering Maintenance (or similar).
  • BTEC/HNC in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering (desirable).
  • Experience in a chemical, COMAH or high‑hazard manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with rotating equipment overhauls and mechanical diagnostics.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs and engineering drawings.
  • Experience using SAP or similar maintenance management systems (advantageous).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with strong problem‑solving skills.
