The opportunity
We're looking for an individual with a background in operating plant and equipment, who is ready to transition from the field and apply their practical knowledge to a strategic role as our Operations Manager. If you're someone who has spent years in the field, ready to step out of the machine and take on a new challenge, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Resource Coordination: Work with Site Supervisors to understand project requirements and ensure the most efficient solutions are provided. Plan and manage the utilisation of plant equipment, site equipment, personnel etc. to meet site needs.
- Communication: Consult with site supervisors to ensure plant and equipment meet the required standards for the project.
- Supplier Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely and cost‑effective procurement, ensuring continuity of an established network.
- Value Maximisation: Ensure procurement processes deliver maximum value for money.
- Data analysis: Analyse and report on equipment suitability, utilisation, and maintenance requirements, providing insights for continuous improvement.
- Plant Management System: Successfully implement and use the plant management system (an in‑house built system) to deliver agreed project objectives.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with Site Supervisors to maintain effective communication.
- Compliance: Utilisation of assets and resources, ensuring resources (equipment and personnel) are compliant with legal, site and other requirements. Engage third‑party contractors where necessary to service supply demands (e.g., labour hire, subcontractors, plant, equipment).
About you
- Plant knowledge: Strong knowledge of plant equipment and earthworks (experience operating preferred but not essential).
- Computer literacy: High level of computer literacy, excellent written and verbal communication (you will use an in‑house built system to manage the resources of each site).
- Skills: Highly analytical and commercial in your approach with the ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment.
- Network: An established network within the industry (preferred but not essential).
- Problem‑solving: Show logical intelligence and foresight in resolving challenges and anticipate future issues before they arise by projecting and planning ahead.
