Job Purpose

Support the Head of Enterprise Risk in developing, embedding and enhancing Lantern’s approach to risk management across the Group. The role holder will act as a trusted Risk Business Partner to the First Line, helping business areas identify, assess, manage and report risks in a proportionate and commercially aware way. They will support the business to understand key risks, strengthen controls, deliver agreed actions and respond effectively to changing priorities, regulatory expectations and strategic change. The role will contribute to the ongoing development and operation of the Group’s Risk Management Framework, including enterprise risk, operational risk, third‑party risk management, due diligence and control assurance activities. This includes supporting risk assessment across business change, client onboarding, acquisitions, supplier arrangements, litigation‑related activity and other material business initiatives. This role would suit someone who enjoys working hands‑on across a broad risk agenda, building strong relationships with both First and Second‑Line colleagues, and helping a growing regulated firm make well‑controlled, responsible and customer‑focused decisions.

Role Accountabilities

  • Support the Head of Enterprise Risk in the delivery, enhancement and embedding of the Group Risk Management Framework.
  • Act as a Risk Business Partner to business areas across the Group, providing constructive challenge, advice and support to help identify, assess, manage and report key risks.
  • Support the planning, delivery and closure of risk and compliance‑related projects, ensuring outcomes are delivered to agreed standards, timescales and governance expectations.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure regulatory, conduct, operational risk, client and customer outcome considerations are appropriately embedded into the design and delivery of business change.
  • Support the Group’s Risk and Control Self‑Assessment process, supporting business owners to assess inherent risks, evaluate control effectiveness, identify gaps and agree appropriate mitigating actions.
  • Collaborate with First Line teams to investigate risk incidents, control failures, legal or regulatory concerns, identifying root causes, lessons learned and practical remedial actions.
  • Support the ongoing development of incident management, issue management and action tracking processes, ensuring risks are escalated, monitored and resolved appropriately.
  • Support the Group’s third‑party risk management and due diligence activities, including risk assessment of suppliers, clients, panel firms, outsourced providers and other material business relationships.
  • Provide risk input into client onboarding, new business opportunities, supplier arrangements, litigation‑related activity and strategic initiatives to support safe and responsible growth.
  • Support regulatory reporting and regulatory engagement activity, including the preparation, review and coordination of risk and compliance‑related submissions, responses and information requests.
  • Support the preparation of risk and compliance MI, reports and papers for governance forums, senior management, clients, suppliers and regulators, ensuring reporting is clear, accurate and action‑focused.
  • Provide support with the Group’s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning framework, working with business areas to maintain, test and improve arrangements.
  • Monitor emerging risks, regulatory developments, client expectations and industry themes relevant to the Group’s debt purchase, servicing and litigation activities, escalating potential impacts as appropriate.
  • Promote a strong risk culture across the Group by supporting training, awareness, engagement and clear ownership of risks and controls.
  • Build effective relationships across First and Second Line teams, helping to ensure that risk management is practical, proportionate and embedded into day‑to‑day decision‑making.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in an enterprise risk, operational risk, governance or assurance role within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Good working knowledge of risk management frameworks, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, reporting and escalation.
  • Experience in an FCA regulated environment – at least 2 years in a risk, compliance or audit role.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and support colleagues at all levels.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework around consumer credit.
  • Relevant enterprise risk, financial services, governance or assurance experience.
  • Demonstrates sound financial standing.
  • Works within the ISO Quality framework & in line with company policies.
  • Always complies with CSA, FCA, SRA, ICO & all other Regulatory Rules, Principles & Guidelines.
