If you feel able to provide compassionate emotional and practical support to individuals within our mental health service and learn about horticulture and work in nature at the same time, we have Support Volunteer roles available at each of our three sites in Cumbria: South Lakes (Low Sizergh Farm, Kendal), Penrith & Eden Valley (Tebay Services) and West Cumbria (Egremont).
Growing Well is a farm-based mental health charity originating near Kendal in South Cumbria, and with sites in West Cumbria and at Tebay Services. The horticultural context is key to our charity as it provides a safe, supportive working environment to nurture mental health recovery for those people experiencing moderate to severe mental illness. Growing Well works with people on a weekly basis to help rebuild a sense of purpose, to engage in meaningful and fulfilling activity and to build hope for the future.
Our Support Volunteers come on one, regular day a week (Mon-Thu) to join our expert staff and people we support in the day’s activities.
