Main Job Purpose

To ensure the timely recruitment of freelance, home-based telephone interpreters in accordance with business requirements and to an agreed quality standard.

Specific Tasks

  • To work in conjunction with the UK and LanguageLine Solutions US teams to take candidates through a six stage recruitment process.
  • Sourcing candidates who meet designated criteria to become freelance OPI Interpreters. This may require creativity and innovation when searching for rarer languages.
  • To carry out initial over the phone interviews and English Language Tests to ensure candidates meet the relevant criteria to be put forward for the assessment process.
  • Find out availability from candidates to undertake the Interpreter Skills Assessment which takes place in their target language.
  • Respond to correspondence from both interpreters and colleagues on the US team relating to applications and provide necessary information to all parties.
  • Liaise with candidates to conduct Disclosure and Barring Service Checks and ensuring all relevant paperwork is issued and completed.
  • Ensure candidates complete all relevant paperwork and joining requirements for the New Hire Orientation.
  • To record all data relating to candidates progress through the six stage process on Taleo our internal recruitment database and tracking spreadsheets.
  • Produce and present weekly and monthly reports on recruitment progress.
  • Work in targeted environment with monthly recruitment targets.
  • Assisting with any other ad-hoc duties which may be required by the department.
  • Take personal responsibility for ensuring that personal information is used fairly and lawfully within GDPR guidelines, report any personal data security incidents immediately and abide by the Information Security Policy detailed in the Staff Handbook.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the position.

Person Specification

The following range of experience, knowledge and skills are required:

Essential

  • Educated to A Level standard or equivalent.
  • Exposure to busy/high pressure role.
  • Remains calm and focused under pressure.
  • Multi-tasking and comfortable in busy role.
  • Process driven with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive and innovative approach.
  • Independent worker willing to take responsibility.
  • Telephone interviewing skills.
  • A solid understanding of recruitment procedures.
  • Strong excel skills.
  • Establish credibility with freelance interpreter base.

Desirable

  • Educated to degree level standard or equivalent.
  • Three years recruitment experience.

This role is subject to a basic DBS Disclosure.
