Join Our Summer Teaching Team.

Are you an energetic, motivated EFL teacher looking to spend the summer inspiring young international learners across the UK?

Language in Action is seeking qualified and enthusiastic teachers to deliver engaging English lessons to teenage students (ages 12‑18) at our university and school‑based centres in vibrant UK cities.

We currently need teachers in the London area for 2‑ and 4‑week placements with a start in July.

Non‑residential positions are preferred; limited residential positions may still be available.

Locations: London.

Right to Work: Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

About the Role

You will help students build their confidence and communication skills while ensuring their welfare and safety on campus.

Lessons follow an agreed syllabus, with flexibility to adapt materials to suit learners’ needs.

  • Teaching Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver dynamic, student‑focused lessons using provided materials.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, registers, and records of work covered.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, reporting concerns to the Director of Studies (Do S).
  • Attend pre‑course training and required staff meetings.
  • Participate in classroom observations and feedback sessions.
  • Safeguarding & General Duties
  • Complete online Level 1 Safeguarding and Prevent training before starting.
  • Follow all Language in Action policies, including Health & Safety and Child Protection.
  • Supervise students responsibly during class and breaks.
  • Take part in social and cultural activities when required.
  • Be a positive role model and uphold the organisation’s core values.
  • Course Dates 2026
  • 09 July – 06 August (4 weeks).

Qualifications

Essential

  • University degree.
  • Cambridge CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL, or equivalent TEFLI qualification (meeting British Council criteria).
  • ICT and administrative skills (MS Office, Excel, IWBs).
  • Native or near‑native English proficiency.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of effective language teaching strategies.

Desirable

  • DELTA/Dip TESOL or equivalent.
  • Previous summer school or youth teaching experience.
  • Experience working with multicultural groups or teenagers.
  • Additional Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS check (or overseas equivalent).
  • Proof of identity and original qualifications required.
  • Two professional references (including one from a previous employer).
  • Completion of Safeguarding declaration.
  • Pay & Benefits
  • Hourly Rate: £18.00 gross.
  • Hours: Typically 30+ hours per week, 5 days a week (may vary by centre).
  • Holiday Pay: Accrued according to UK regulations.
  • Meals: Free lunch provided.
  • Accommodation: Full‑board residential options available.
  • Accommodation offset fee: £99/week (outside London), £149/week (Zone 1 London/Bloomsbury).
