Role
As a Face-to-Face Interpreter, you’ll play a crucial role in enabling communication between people who do not share the same language. You’ll interpret spoken or signed statements in settings such as healthcare, legal proceedings, local government, and more.
Your duties will include:
- Interpreting conversations for individuals accessing public services (e.g. legal, health, and local authority services).
- Ensuring clarity and understanding after each statement or question.
- Handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Acting as a liaison between service users and service providers.
Common Settings You May Work In
- Hospitals, clinics, and GP surgeries.
- Social care and child welfare meetings.
- Schools and other educational institutions.
- Legal appointments and court sessions.
- Housing offices and council departments.

What We’re Looking For
- Fluency in English and at least one other language.
- Hold a DPSI, Community Interpreting qualification, or other interpreting-related qualification.
- A valid DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Legal right to work in the UK.
