Langley has a fantastic opportunity for an organised, values-led, and Christ Centred Lead Chaplain, who is able to pass the good news of Jesus love to both clients and staff. This role will be aligned to our Eliora site in Bedford, which covers Central Bedfordshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, so there will be a requirement for travel. This role is a permanent part-time role working 10 hours per week. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of £9,715 per annum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help recruit, lead, co-ordinate and supervise a small team of volunteer Christian Chaplains to deliver sustainable Chaplaincy to the service.
  • Support and assist the Service manager, in encouraging and developing the Christian ethos of the service, amongst clients. This will require a level of theological understanding to be able to provide advice and guidance on matters of faith.
  • Lead and co-ordinate local church engagement.
  • Plan and co-ordinate the delivery of an appropriate weekly and annual programme of opportunities, for clients to be guided into the presence of God, for example: bible study; prayer meetings; Coffee, tea and God sessions; contemplative moments; etc.
  • Pray for the wellbeing of the service, including clients, staff and volunteers.
  • Provide spiritual guidance and leadership, sharing the good news of Jesus, with clients who are seeking.
  • Chaplains are expected to be able to lead a person to faith in Jesus, if requested.
  • Identify and address pastoral needs of clients, of all faiths and none.

The successful candidate will be a practicing Christian who will create an environment where people feel valued, empowered and equipped to do their best work. This person will play a full part to further the organisational aims and provide strong Christian leadership to allow Langley to be a leader within the different sectors in which it operates. The postholder will always uphold the Trust's Christian ethos and Christ-like culture and therefore there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practicing and professing Christian under the Equality Act 2010. A full clean driving license and access to a car is desirable.
