Langland's Medical Strategy & Education team is hiring a Senior Medical Writer II to lead the development of high-quality, scientifically robust medical communications across key client accounts. In this role, you’ll combine deep scientific expertise with strategic thinking to shape compelling narratives that make complex science meaningful. You’ll be trusted as a lead writer, a collaborative partner to clients, and a mentor to developing talent. This is a role for someone who enjoys thinking further—about innovation, impact, and how great medical writing can continuously evolve.
Responsibilities
- Takes responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of scientific content, ensuring quality, accuracy and integrity of individual work and that of more junior team members.
- Ensures that the scientific strategy is defined and cohesively applied across all deliverables for assigned accounts.
- Seen as the go-to content expert for assigned therapeutic areas, and leads the accurate and impactful implementation of the client’s strategic imperatives and communication goals.
- Leads content discussions internally and externally, confidently handling content challenges and guiding more junior team members.
- Line manages more junior writers, taking responsibility for their training, performance and development (with guidance from more senior team members as needed).
- Provides research and content support for pitch development and other new business initiatives; identifies the strategic implications of product data and the therapeutic landscape and can confidently present their research in pitches.
Qualifications
- Good at understanding and communicating complex science (you should hold a bachelor’s degree in the life sciences and ideally a master’s degree or PhD).
- Able to develop strong relationships – based on exceptional verbal, as well as written, communication abilities – and comfortable providing advice and guidance to others.
- Medical writing experience within a medical communications agency or an in-house pharma med comms team, demonstrating:
- The ability to craft standard and complex communications to high editorial and scientific standards with minimal supervision.
- An ability to elevate content standards through direct review of work and mentorship of junior writers.
- Development of junior writing talent through direct line management and training.
