Are you an experienced Applications Support Engineer who enjoys solving problems, working across modern business systems, and being part of a fast-growing digital business? We’re working with a rapidly scaling, eCommerce-led organisation that is investing heavily in its systems and technology. They’re now looking to hire an Applications Support Engineer to join their small, collaborative remote team supporting both internal users and a UK-wide franchise network.

The Role

This is a highly varied role where you’ll be supporting a suite of business-critical applications across eCommerce, ERP, CRM, and integrated platforms. You’ll take ownership of issues from start to finish — not just fixing problems, but investigating root causes and improving how systems operate. There’s also a strong focus on proactive support — identifying trends, spotting potential risks, and helping prevent issues before they impact the wider business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting internal teams and external partners with day-to-day application issues
  • Troubleshooting across eCommerce, ERP, CRM, and integrated systems
  • Owning issues end-to-end, from investigation through to resolution
  • Supporting platforms such as Shopify, NetSuite, and internal sales systems
  • Assisting with bookings, orders, and payment queries (e.g. Stripe)
  • Working with Excel and CSV data to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Supporting system improvements, testing, and new feature rollouts
  • Working with third-party providers and internal stakeholders
  • Identifying recurring issues and proactively improving processes

Tech Environment

You don’t need experience with everything, but exposure to similar systems is key:

  • ERP: NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Dynamics
  • eCommerce: Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, or similar
  • CRM / Sales platforms: Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, or bespoke systems
  • Payments: Stripe or equivalent
  • CMS: ExpressionEngine, WordPress, Drupal, etc.
  • Other tools: LMS platforms, social media tools, SharePoint or similar

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in Application / Systems Support
  • Strong troubleshooting and investigative mindset
  • Experience supporting business systems such as ERP, CRM, or eCommerce platforms
  • Comfortable supporting remote users
  • Strong Excel skills (CSV/data handling)
  • Any SQL or DNS knowledge would be beneficial (but not essential)

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who:

  • Takes real ownership of problems
  • Enjoys figuring out how things work
  • Spots opportunities to improve and prevent issues
  • Is comfortable working in a small, fast-paced team

Why Apply?

  • Fully remote role
  • Broad, modern tech stack
  • Genuine ownership and impact
  • Fast-growing, forward-thinking business
  • Supportive and collaborative culture

How to prepare for a job interview at Langham Recruitment

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
