As the business scales across the UK and US, this role will play a key part in shaping high-quality digital courses within its platform. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys both instructional design and the practical build and QA of digital learning content. You will work closely with educators, writers and internal teams to translate content into structured, engaging and pedagogically sound learning experiences.
Role Responsibilities
- Build, structure and publish digital courses using an in‑house Content Studio / CMS, translating written content, simulations and assets into cohesive learning experiences.
- Apply instructional design principles to ensure courses meet learning objectives, follow clear pedagogical logic and maintain learner engagement.
- Collaborate with external educators and internal subject‑matter experts to review content for accuracy, clarity, consistency and readability.
- Work closely with writers, simulation developers and asset teams to ensure smooth handover and identify missing or unclear elements early.
- Quality‑assure course components, including multimedia assets, interactions and simulations, checking for clarity, functionality and consistency.
- Organise and maintain course structures within the CMS, including metadata, tagging, version control and content updates.
- Use AI‑assisted tools to support course structuring, question banks, learning sequences and draft assets for internal review.
- Identify pedagogical or structural gaps and recommend improvements to learning flow and outcomes.
- Create and maintain repeatable quality processes, templates and build standards as course volumes scale.
- Contribute feedback to the ongoing development of internal authoring tools and platform workflows.
Requirements
- Proven experience in instructional design, learning technology, digital learning development or a closely related role.
- Hands‑on experience building digital courses or learning resources using a CMS, LMS or authoring platform.
- Strong understanding of learning theory, engagement principles and effective digital course structuring.
- Experience working with educators, writers or subject‑matter experts to support content development.
- Comfortable balancing creative instructional design with operational tasks such as structuring, formatting and uploading content.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to spot gaps, inconsistencies or unclear learning journeys.
- Confident using AI tools as part of the content or learning design workflow.
- Highly organised, methodical and able to manage multiple course builds simultaneously.
Benefits
- £38,000-£42,000 salary, depending on experience.
- Hybrid working: Monday and Friday from home, Tuesday-Thursday in a Manchester-based office.
- Flexible working hours (7.5-hour day, early start available).
- 23 days holiday plus bank holidays.
- Collaborative, inclusive and fast-growing company culture.
- Eligibility for an EMI share options scheme.
