Are you an experienced Opto-Mechanical Engineer? Do you want to work on the cutting-edge development of Space and Satellite exploration? Then this might be the role for you!
This is your chance to join a dynamic and innovative multidisciplinary engineering team, supporting with the design, analysis, and assembly of cutting-edge optical payloads for space applications.
Responsibilities:- Design opto-mechanical systems from concept to detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
- Collaborate closely with optical, electronic, and systems engineers to deliver functional designs.
- Perform FEA (thermoelastic, static, dynamic) on components including deformation of optical surfaces.
- Support assembly, integration, and testing in cleanroom environments.
- Liaise with suppliers and manage manufacturing activities and work packages.
- Produce design documentation, maintain logs, and create technical review material.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Proven experience in the design, build, and test of opto-mechanical systems, ideally for space applications.
- Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar) and FEA experience (e.g. ANSYS).
- Knowledge of mounting optics (lenses, mirrors, filters), kinematic principles, and material selection.
- Excellent problem-solving skills in stress, thermal, and vibration analysis.
- Familiarity with BS8888 drawing standards and a quality-assured engineering environment.
