Mechanism Engineer required to join a highly admired Spacecraft / Satellite business in Guildford.  The Mechanism Team sits under the Mechanical Engineering Department (about 50 engineers).   We are seeking an enthusiastic, success driven and committed mechanisms engineer to support the existing and expanding range of space mechanisms. We are looking for either a graduate that can demonstrate real passion for mechanical and/or mechanisms/mechatronics engineering or someone that already has mechanical/mechanism/mechatronic engineering experience   This is an amazing opportunity for an engineer to work on space mechanisms in a stimulating and mission-critical environment! The vacancy requires a high level of electro-mechanical technical design, analysis, production, and test coupled with the requirement to manage multiple work packages. The role will allow the engineer to work on multiple products and influence the product offerings to fulfil the requirements of mission-level projects. Strong engineering capability coupled with a positive attitude is essential… being a space-guru is not!   Mechanisms Engineers face significant challenges during spacecraft launch and whilst in orbit. The attention to detail and ability to ensure that what is delivered would operate for potentially 15 years with no maintenance and 100% reliability whilst providing low-cost innovative solutions that are designed for manufacture (DFM) makes every day an exciting challenge.   Key Tasks Design and analysis of new or evolution of existing mechanism products including working with other areas of the business for system trade-offs Design for manufacture (DFM) Hands-on engineering including development and flight build, testing and spacecraft integration Managing multiple tasks and work packages in parallel with changeable priorities Interfacing with internal and external customers including presentations and technical reviews Authoring technical documents (e.g., design reports, procedures, test reports)Previous Experience We are looking for either a graduate that can demonstrate real passion for mechanical and/or mechanisms/mechatronics engineering or someone that already has mechanical/mechanism/mechatronic engineering experience, preferably in a high reliability environment that is seeking further challenges. Additionally able to demonstrate passion for moving to or maintaining their career in the space industry will also help! Mechanical design experience of stress-critical components, implementing precision tolerance analysis, drafting, materials and manufacturing methods.
