We're seeking an experienced Electrical Contractor to take ownership of the design, partial build, and commissioning of a custom Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) rig for a confidential R&D project.

As this contract falls outside IR35, applicants will need to operate via a registered Ltd company and supply their own tools.

Project Summary:

You’ll be leading the hands-on electrical work for a standalone HiL system housed in a 19" rack-mounted mobile enclosure, with responsibilities spanning from schematic design to final commissioning. The high-level rig configuration includes:

  • 1x AC/DC power distribution and control logic shelf
  • 3x shelves for battery and BMS hardware
  • 1x shelf for charging equipment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create schematics and cable harness drawings using AutoCAD LT
  • Layout and partially build the electrical panels
  • Oversee harness integration with the in-house Manufacturing Team
  • Commission the completed system on-site

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience designing and building electrical systems - ideally for HiL rigs, battery test equipment, or automotive R&D platforms
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD LT
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, battery systems, and system commissioning
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative on an end-to-end project
