Our oncology team is growing and we’re looking for an MRCVS who is an oncology or medicine diplomate, or perhaps just an exam away. We have a brilliant team of committed and talented people, this full time post offers great work life balance with no out of hours expectation. We are looking for an experienced clinician, but we are also able to support a developing interest in this area of small animal medicine.

As part of a multi-disciplinary referral hospital there is daily contact with a huge array of diplomates across all areas, we also benefit from a close relationship with our specialist imagers, soft tissue surgeons and critical care team who help us to excel in what we do by providing the support to complement our skills.

Principal Accountabilities
  • To undertake oncological (feline and canine) diagnoses, treatments and procedures to the standards expected by the RCVS
  • To record all case records accurately
  • To ensure that client consent is gained as necessary and that they are aware of and kept up to date with treatment costs
  • To ensure that laboratory findings are reported to clients
  • To assess and examine in patients on a daily basis, and to keep all records up to date and update all relevant staff of any changes
  • To follow all LVS protocols and policies
  • To comply with the debt protocol
  • To ensure telephone queries are answered
  • To have students assigned to you on their clinical rotations and on EMS as required and as necessary
  • To contribute to the assessment and delivery of appraisals of students on their practical rotation when applicable
  • To ensure that veterinary nurses are supervised to the required level
  • To ensure the correct pricing and charging of all procedures
  • To ensure the continuing growth of the referral caseload by providing excellent customer and patient care
  • To support growth of the service through involvement in marketing initiatives undertaken by LVS
  • To undertake relevant training as requested in order to expand services offered within LVS
  • To be available when requested on the rota to provide cover for the relief of pain and suffering in animals and to support residents in receiving and treating emergency cases
  • On rare occasions, when asked and agreed by CEO, to undertake some formal teaching duties
  • To perform administrative tasks as are required by the Hospital Director and the Chief Executive Officer
  • To undertake any reasonable requests made by your Manager.
