Role Overview
Langford Vets is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity within our Client Services team for an experienced, professional, and dynamic individual with a strong customer focus, keen to thrive in a busy and fast‑paced Small Animal Veterinary Referral Hospital.
The position is a full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
The hospital is based at Langford and operates 24/7, providing specialist clinics including neurology, soft tissue surgery, medicine and emergency care to first‑opinion veterinary practices.
The role supports these activities by providing first‑rate customer and administrative service to clients and clinicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Make appointment bookings, manage telephony services, and perform administrative tasks including taking payments and processing insurance forms.
- Provide front‑of‑house reception support, greet clients, maintain the reception area, and manage cash reconciliation.
- Handle telephone enquiries, direct calls, and book appointments in the system.
- Maintain and update the x‑ray referral service, scan documents onto Ezy Vet, and manage the email mailbox.
- Support the website, order stationery, liaise with clients regarding deceased pets, and identify opportunities for business improvement.
- Assist with clinical planning and other ad‑hoc tasks as assigned.
Person Specification
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a customer‑focused role.
- Previous experience in a veterinary environment is an asset but not essential.
- Advanced word processing skills, including Microsoft Word.
- Formal qualification in typewriting or word processing such as RSA or Pitman’s Advanced.
- Education to a good GCSE level or equivalent, including English and preferably maths.
- Relevant training as a telephonist or receptionist.

- Confident communicator, professional, friendly, and caring.
- High level of empathy and a positive “can‑do” attitude.
