Here at Langdons, we have an amazing opportunity for a Transport Administration Assistant Apprentice to join the team based in Barnsley.

The main purpose of the role is to assist transport colleagues to ensure that incoming and outgoing deliveries for designated customers are efficiently and effectively dealt with and that all relevant records are created and maintained. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis, working Monday to Friday and in return, you will receive a salary of £15,973.91 per annum.

What you'll be doing as our Transport Administration Assistant:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Transport Team with planning and communicating routes to drivers where required
  • Assist drivers with downloading tacho records and identifying any discrepancies or omissions, referring to the Transport Manager where necessary to ensure relevant follow up action is taken
  • Respond to customer queries, ensuring any discrepancies are recorded, investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Update and maintain electronic and manual records in accordance with company systems, processes and procedures where required
  • Advise and guide other colleagues where required to ensure all working procedures and processes are complied with
  • Provide cover for the Customer Service and Warehouse Teams where required

General Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to company rules, policies, procedures consistently and encourage others to do the same
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation impacting on your role where required
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and ensure that confidentiality is applied where appropriate
  • Be flexible in accordance with the needs of the business

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified to Business Administration Level 3 or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a team-based office environment, preferably in a customer-facing role.
  • IT literate in Microsoft Office packages and have the ability to compile, analyse and interpret relevant data

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use initiative and to be so organised that key tasks can be completed fully and on time.
  • Ability to work to fluid targets and deadlines
  • High attention to detail and confident to challenge discrepancies
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven arithmetic skills
  • Effective working unsupervised and in a team-based environment
