Here at Langdons, we have an amazing opportunity for a Depot Manager to join our team based in Bridgwater. You will be working on a full time, permanent basis, working Monday to Friday and in return, you will receive a highly competitive salary of £68,100 per annum.
The Depot Manager role:
- To oversee the daily running of a transport and warehousing operation, ensuring it is cost-effective and efficient.
- Ensure staffing and equipment levels are planned and maintained to ensure agreed deadlines, statutory requirements and service levels are met.

We have 13 depots and over 500 vehicles carrying chilled and frozen food all over the country. We’re the only company providing a 24-hour service of this kind, and we’re very good at it. What you’ll be doing as our Depot Manager:
- Oversee operation through management staff, ensuring smooth handovers and cross department working is promoted and encouraged.
- Ensure staffing levels and equipment are cost effective and sufficient to meet operational requirements.
- Apply financial controls to ensure targets are achieved and resources are maximised.
- Develop and maintain service level targets and agreements, identifying any discrepancies, resolving complaints and ensuring an effective and efficient response to customer service is achieved.
- Ensure robust systems for management of transport, warehouse and site operations food safety and health and safety are in place and adhered to consistently.
- Ensure compliance and quality controls are in place, knowledge and responsibilities are appropriately shared, conformance is assessed and any non-compliance is corrected on a timely basis and preventative action is taken and embedded.
- Ensure staff teams are fully competent, any performance or disciplinary matters are effectively addressed and ongoing development is promoted.
- Ensure the development and ongoing promotion of the company’s quality culture.
- Deputise where required and in partnership with management ensures appropriate cover for all teams is available and any issues are resolved on a timely basis and in accordance with company procedures.
What qualifications and experience are we looking for in our Depot Manager?
- CPC (National or International) Level 5 (or equivalent) in Management.
- Extensive knowledge and application of transport or warehouse management and health and safety regulations.
- Proven experience in managing direct and remote teams in a fast moving environment.
- IT literate in Microsoft Office packages and have the ability to compile, analyse and interpret relevant data.
