Kisharon Langdon has an exciting opportunity for Support Workers to join their growing team in the Edgware and Borehamwood areas of North & North West London. As a Support Worker you will be required to work individually and as part of a team to enable our members to live as independently as possible. You will be responsible for working with our employment team to facilitate employment opportunities and assisting and supporting our members to enjoy an active social life. The large majority of our vacancies are for full time (37.5 hours per week) therefore you will need to be able to work full time to apply for a role with us.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal or supported care.
- Work flexible hours which will involve working early and late shifts, every other weekend, some sleep ins and bank holidays in accordance with member need.
- Assist and support in the provision of social, health and personal care including providing support in assisting moving, use of wheelchair and hoist as required.
- Support and enable our members to live as independently as possible and develop new and existing skills including shopping and other domestic tasks like cooking & cleaning.
- Support individuals to observe Jewish Culture and achieve goals that link to the Kisharon Langdon mission.
- Assist in supporting our members in designing and developing their support/care plans.
- Enable our members to form relationships and wider social networks.
- Support at mealtimes and with social activities including music and art therapy.
- Attend appointments and maintain their health and wellbeing.
- Promote and adhere to our workplace values (Respect, Integrity, Community, and Excellence).
About You:
- New to Support work? No problem, we are keen to hear from you.
- If you are already working in the care sector or looking for a career change and enjoy engaging with people, value diversity and have a real desire to make a difference to someone’s life, then we also want to hear from you.
- Qualified candidates need to demonstrate they have completed an Ofqual QCF (NVQ) Level 3 qualification or higher in Health & Social Care.
- Confident with dealing with challenging behaviours and provide personal care.
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, you must have a good standard of written English.
- Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities or Autism is desirable but not essential as full training will be given to the successful applicant.
- Ideally you will hold a UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work use, but this is desirable and not essential.
- Happy to work shifts as part of a rota system which will include some weekend and bank holiday working and sleeps ins as required.
- Work as part of a team to deliver an excellent person centric service to the people we support.
