Who We Are
Set in the heart of the Lake District, the Langdale Estate is a unique destination offering luxury hotel and self-catering accommodation, spa experiences, and exceptional hospitality. But Langdale is more than just a beautiful place to live, work and visit; it’s a business with a purpose. Bought by its timeshare owners in 1996 to protect the resort from overdevelopment, Langdale has always been guided by values of sustainability, fairness, and community. Today, more than ever, we care about preserving its natural beauty and creating memorable experiences for our guests. We’re proud of our heritage, and we’re passionate about our future. You’ll be part of a team that values quality, integrity, the environment and the people who make Langdale special.
About the Role
Front of House Host – Be the Heart of the Guest Journey
Are you naturally warm, curious, and passionate about creating unforgettable guest experiences? We’re looking for a Front of House Host to be the welcoming face of our hotel — guiding guests from arrival to departure and helping them make the most of their stay. Based at our front desk (Guest HQ), you’ll be part concierge, part experience curator, and part problem-solver. Whether it’s arranging a last-minute spa treatment, recommending a scenic walk, or simply offering a warm smile, you’ll play a key role in delivering our signature hospitality. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role that goes far beyond reception. You’ll assist and build rapport with guests across the estate, support meetings and events, and ensure our facilities are always guest-ready. You’ll be the go-to person for local knowledge, special requests, and those little touches that turn a good stay into a great one.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome guests with warmth and professionalism
- Manage check-in/check-out and front desk operations
- Assist with spa, dining, and activity bookings
- Provide tailored recommendations for local experiences
- Escort guests to rooms or lodges and assist with luggage
- Support meetings, weddings, and events with guest coordination
- Conduct walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness and readiness
- Liaise with housekeeping, maintenance, and transport providers
- Deliver special touches for birthdays, anniversaries, and VIP stays
- Maintain accurate guest notes and shift handovers
What We’re Looking For
- A natural host with excellent communication and people skills
- Previous experience in hospitality, guest services, or concierge roles
- Proactive, organised, and confident working across departments
- Passionate about guest satisfaction and attention to detail
- Comfortable using booking systems and handling payments
- Able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and evenings
What We Offer
- Be our guest with a yearly complimentary stay in our Langdale hotel, B&B rate for one night.
- Get fit for free with complimentary access to our Fitness and Leisure Facilities.
- Get fed for free with meals available in our staff canteen.
- Get recognised with a chance to win cash prizes through Guest Nominations and for colleagues voting you a Langdale Superstar.
- Get a bonus of up to £300.00 with our Refer a Friend scheme.
- Get support with access to our confidential and impartial Employee Assistance Program (EAP) supported by our team of trained Mental Health First Aiders.
- Get it for less with staff discounts in Wainwrights Inn, Brimstone Spa, Brimstone Hotel and Stove Restaurant alongside external discounts such as Kendal Physio, Windermere cruises and B&Q trade.
- Get security after 6 months of service, you will gain enhanced Sick Pay and Life cover up to twice your salary.
