Our Client: Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,400 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting six long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances.
The Role: You will report directly to the Commercial Manager and you will be expected to provide leadership and management to the commercial delivery teams and core team commercial functions for our client's business.
Responsibilities:
- Commercial management to drive commercial excellence into project delivery ensuring accuracy of forecasts and protection of fee at all times.
- Develop and foster relationships with client and subcontractors alike to aid delivery and contract negotiation.
- Provide commercial support to procurement team ensuring at all time value for money.
- Negotiate with client ensuring adherence to our client's governance.
- Continuous review of commercial resource levels playing an active part in recruitment to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
- Support the Commercial Manager in providing contractual and commercial training to all staff in the region.
- Support the Commercial Manager in review and continuous development of commercial processes and procedures.
- Undertake approvals and other processes.
- Deputise for the Commercial Manager as and when required.
- Assist in the management and development of junior commercial staff.
- Collaborative work with the client to ensure business requirements are met.
Experience:
Essential:
- Degree qualified or equivalent in quantity surveying or related discipline.
- Experience in utilities/civil engineering/MEICA sectors.
- NEC3/IChemE experience.
- Experience of managing commercial teams.
- Extensive commercial experience within a contracting environment.
- Experience at senior management level, with ability to demonstrate leadership qualities that promote an environment for excellence.
- Proficient in contract management and risk assessment.
- Experience & knowledge of IT reporting systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable:
- Working towards or have chartered membership of a recognised institution.
- Experience of managing and developing an individual or small team.
- Experience of managing a portfolio of works with multiple stakeholders.
