Our client is a leading UK-based renewable energy company specializing in the production of biomethane through anaerobic digestion. By partnering closely with local farmers, they convert agricultural and organic waste into clean, green energy while generating valuable by-products such as nutrient-rich bio-fertiliser and high-purity green CO2. This closed-loop approach supports sustainable agriculture, drives rural economic development, and advances the circular economy. With several projects already under development across the United Kingdom, their ambition is to become the country's leading producer of biomethane and to supply up to 25% of the UK's total output. In doing so, it plays a key role in supporting the Government's target to quadruple biomethane production by 2030 and in delivering long-term value for local communities while accelerating the UK's transition to net zero.
Role Profile: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation and maintenance of a portfolio of renewable gas assets, including CHPs, biogas upgrading systems, CO2 capture plants and biomethane virtual pipeline infrastructure. The role ensures maximum asset availability, regulatory compliance and performance optimisation across multiple sites through structured maintenance systems, technical leadership, and contractor management. This position combines hands-on technical oversight with strategic planning, reliability engineering, and HSE leadership in a distributed, process-driven environment that supports new plant commissioning activities, ramp-up and handover of new downstream systems into operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce and develop Asset Reliability & Maintenance Strategy
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes for:
- Biogas upgrading plants.
- Industrial pressure reduction systems.
- CNG virtual pipeline trailer loading / discharging infrastructure.
- CO2 capture, liquefaction, and handling equipment
- Compression, storage, and loading systems for biomethane virtual pipeline operations
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

- Demonstrated experience managing multi-site maintenance operations.
- Strong knowledge of gas treatment and upgrading systems, instrumentation and SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance methodologies.
- Experience with CO2 capture, purification and liquefaction systems.
- Experience managing contractors and OEM relationships.
- Strong Health and Safety acumen.
- Proven experience operating process plants (AD, biogas, wastewater, chemicals, energy, or similar).
- Suitable level of Health and Safety, gas safe qualifications and competency such as NEBOSH / IOSH.
- Strong understanding of HSE and environmental compliance in the UK.
- Leadership and people management capability.
- Comfortable operating in a commercial, performance-driven environment.
