Our client is developing and building multiple multi-year contracts and projects in the UK. They are recruiting Project Managers who will help keep projects and construction sites operating at a high level, acting as the main interface with the Principal Contractor and managing 4-5 specialist subcontractors. Each project is valued at roughly £25m with an estimated construction period of 9-12 months followed by extensive commissioning.
Key responsibilities- You’ll supervise the site at a project level, ensuring the Principal Contractor complies with program, contract, cost, quality and SHEQ requirements.
- Ensure the Principal Contractor pro-actively discharges their duties under CDM regulations, conduct regular site safety walks, control site access, and ensure all applicable technical specifications are met.
- Ensure all construction activities meet scheme deliverables, drive a culture of zero accidents and zero defects to meet delivery milestones and provide the best service.
- Ensure full health and safety compliance with a safe-for-all environment and empower the team to raise safety concerns.
- Adopt and promote cost-conscious management through efficient use of all resources.
- Prepare, review and update realistic scheme programmes; ensure stakeholders complete work on schedule in line with programmes.
- Chair and attend site coordination meetings with contractors and review compliance of mandatory documentation (Temporary Works, Quality, Environmental, Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
- Manage collaborative planning meetings on site.
- Act as the Project Engineer’s representative on site; maintain records of site progress, manpower, plant and equipment to drive efficiencies and improvements.
- Work with the Technical Manager and Engineering Project Engineers to proactively manage risks and issues and respond to technical queries.
- Engineering, project delivery and construction site experience, preferably from energy from waste, anaerobic digestion, biogas or water/waste treatment projects.
- Supervisory/management experience in a construction environment.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Qualification in an engineering/construction discipline.
- SMSTS/SSSTS/CSCS.
- NEBOSH, IOSH.
- Microsoft Project and collaborative planning tools.
