Our client is developing and building multiple multi-year Contracts and Projects in the UK and they are looking for skilled people to deliver on these fantastic opportunities in Anaerobic Digestion and Biomethane. They are recruiting for a Project Manager for a design and build project of a new Gas Injection Hub. You will act as the key interface between them and the Principal Contractor in addition to managing the activities of 4-5 specialist subcontractors. The project is valued at roughly £10m with an estimated construction period of 12 months followed by extensive commissioning.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as project lead for the wholesale delivery of gas injection hub projects from inception to completion.
- Ensuring the timely completion of multiple concurrent gas injection hub projects safely and within budget.
- Acting as NEC3 Project Manager and playing a central role in administrating and managing all NEC contracts.
- Essential tasks include managing time, testing and defects, payments, compensation events, titles, risks, and insurance.
- Lead on and coordinate legal, statutory, and planning consents, ensuring effective communication, control, and management of associated conditions.
- Lead on and coordinate the development and implementation of technical specifications and documents.
- Lead on and coordinate the preliminary and detailed design package (including civil, mechanical, instrumentation, electrical and control), ensuring compliance with the technical specifications, requirements, and readiness for the procurement and construction phases.
- Actively participate in collaborative planning.
- Responding to internal and external requests for information and technical queries.
- Active role in creating, preparing, negotiating, and implementing contract documentation.
- Lead on and coordinate the appointment of civil and technology partners.
- Lead on and coordinate the procurement of plant, materials, and specialist subcontractors.
- Coordinating and managing supplier partners, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installations and construction teams.
- Proactively manage engineering risks and issues.
- Proactively manage 'client' CDM arrangements, site health and safety, environmental, and engineering risks. Lead on and undertake quality and safety audits.
- Undertake non-compliance and incident investigations where appropriate.
- Chairing internal and external review and progress meetings.
- Compiling progress reports and reporting on project health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Monitoring the management and execution of the projects to meet the engineering and safety requirements of the contract.
- Attend/undertake factory site and works testing, commissioning, and client training.
- Managing/overseeing the production of QA documentation including but not limited to ITPs, check sheets, FAT documentation and O&M's.
- Compile and collate final contract documentation, "As built" drawings, test sheets etc., for inclusion in operation and maintenance manuals.
Here's What You'll Need:
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Construction, Engineering discipline or similar (Preference).
- A recognised qualification in project management e.g., APM, PRINCE2 (Preference).
- Excellent understanding of the gas distribution/gas transmission industry from an engineering and/or construction background. Ideally, experience with Civil, Mechanical, E&I or multi-discipline solutions.
- Knowledge of above and below-ground gas construction projects operating at pressures greater than 7barg.
- Working knowledge and understanding of critical regulations and standards including (but not limited to) HSWA, PUWER, LOLER, COMAH, EWR, DSEAR, PSR, PSSR, GS(M)R, IGEM/GL/5 Edition 3, IGEM/TD/13, IGEM/SR/25, T/PM/G/17, GD/PM/GQ/8.
- Knowledge of NEC3 Contracts (Essential).
- Excellent track record of successful management and delivery of projects.
- Experience in auditing, design/change management, CDM, and commissioning plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on working effectively in cross-functional teams at all levels of the company.
- Self-motivated, with good organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent IT skills. Additional knowledge of CAD and 3D modelling, plus process modelling software tools, Microsoft Project, and collaborative planning tools, would be advantageous.
