Our Client: Is developing multiple anaerobic digestion projects in the UK with ambitious plans to become the largest producer of biomethane, biogenic CO2 and green fertiliser in the UK. The company has excellent prospects and plans to grow substantially in the coming years.

The Role: You will provide HV, LV and ECIA electrical expertise to ensure that all our client’s assets are designed, installed, maintained and operated correctly. Provision of HV/LV technical expertise to Capital Schemes is essential to ensure electrical work is carried out safely, and that new electrical installations are compliant to the relevant standards. This role requires experience in multiple CHP, off and on-grid energy solutions including design and selection of power management systems that can handle large loads without mains power or incorporating BESS. You will be our client’s lead electrical engineer and company electrical mentor, supporting and training site staff together with the rollout of electrical H&S regulations/initiatives. Support will also be given to complex LV electrical work where appropriate. You will have worked within multi-disciplinary teams having co-ordinated, supported and managed contractors. Our client is looking for an enthusiastic problem solver who enjoys working as part of a growing and developing business with the knowledge, experience and drive to form and shape the businesses internal functions such as design, engineering, delivery and operational capability. You will need to be adaptable, agile and flexible in your approach to working, with the ability to work across the entire business platform including two primary office locations, all operational sites, construction sites and future development sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and select power management systems for CHP and off-grid applications.
  • Develop solutions for running CHP off-grid, ensuring reliability without mains power.
  • Backup generator integration.
  • Optimize power distribution and load prioritization to prevent system failures.
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing power management systems.
  • Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate large gas heat and power engines into power systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and safety regulations.
  • Support capital projects, liaison with specialist contractors for issue of permits and SSOW.
  • Overall management and ownership of our client’s electrical networks.
  • Carry out relevant switching arrangements and generator provision.
  • Appropriate inspection and operation of switchgear.
  • Troubleshooting of HV and LV electrical issues.
  • Liaison with DNOs for private wire applications or changes to our client’s import/export requirements.
  • Support to complex LV electrical issues/installations.
  • Management of LV SAP mentor/up skilling programmes.
  • Involvement with Asset Creation/One Supply Chain to ensure correct, compliant and most efficient electrical installation.
  • Awareness and management of switching embargos, prohibition orders and dangerous Incident Notifications on types of switchgear.
  • Participation and support in all ATEX installations and inspections.
  • Participation in design HAZOP Studies.
  • Assist in supervising and developing staff.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) Electrical Engineering.
  • CHP, back-up generation and off-grid systems.
  • LV distribution design.
  • Contractor/EPC experience.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements for engaging contractors.
  • UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to Travel.

Desirable:

  • BS7671 (18th edition wiring regs) (C&G 2382) and C&G Periodic Inspection and Test (2392).
  • Management of contractors and suppliers.
  • Knowledge/Awareness of CDM Regs 2015.
  • Practical Skills to modify LV panels, install new LV and Comms field wiring.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or Equivalent.
  • NEBOSH qualifications.
  • ATEX/DSEAR Experience.
  • COMPEX EX12, EX14.
  • First Aid.
