Our Client: Is one of the largest privately owned engineering and infrastructure specialists in the UK, with over 40 years of experience in providing design, civil engineering and maintenance services working across multiple sectors, including water, transport, built environment and energy.
The Role: Provide leadership and M&E installation expertise to successfully deliver projects from inception to completion. Responsible for managing projects in accordance with NEC contract requirements, ensuring the proactive identification and management of risk, robust change control, and effective management of commercial obligations. Accountable for ensuring all works are delivered safely, to specification, on programme and within budget. Lead and actively engage project delivery and construction teams to promote a positive safety culture and drive successful project outcomes. Work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, designers and internal teams, you will plan, coordinate and manage M&E project activities in compliance with NEC processes. This includes programme management, early warnings, compensation events, cost control and timely decision-making. Maintain strong client relationships and clear lines of communication. Projects vary significantly in value, complexity and duration. These include installation/upgrades of MCC's, control and instrumentation, chemical dosing systems, and water and wastewater process plant. Values range from £200k to £10m.
Responsibilities:
- M&E technical skills in a process sector, a proven leader of staff and operatives.
- Manage and report operational and financial targets, programme and supply chain management including procurement and performance.
- Leadership in Safety, interface with the design and construction teams.
- Effective communication with senior management, designers, consultants, clients, architects, and project teams on technical matters.
- Management of contractors and key suppliers, particularly design, ensuring quality of output and value for money.
- Manage communication and engagement with project stakeholders.
- Work with local project/change teams to ensure consistency of project delivery approach.
- Build and sustain capacity and capability within the project team to deliver the programme workstream effectively and efficiently.
- Lead non-complex and complex projects, including set-up, management, and delivery, ensuring that the project delivers on time, cost and quality and meets all technical delivery processes, standards and reporting requirements.
- Identify, manage, and resolve risks, track, and manage costs and benefits, provide reports as required, and ensure all outputs meet programme requirements.
- Manage project-level resources to ensure project outputs are delivered on time, cost and quality.
Experience:
Essential:
- Excellent communication skills harnessing the ability to effectively manage the MEICA team, 3rd parties and MEICA & Civil clients.
- A team player with the ability to co-ordinate project-related activities with clients' consultants and 3rd parties.
- Good organisational skills.
- Methodical approach with a clear focus on client, customer, and quality.
- Strong leadership qualities and a natural problem solver.
- Able to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
- Able to work in a busy environment under pressure.
- Possess a 'can do' attitude and can provide support to other members of the team as required.
- Methodical, and organised, with excellent attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent (foundation degree HND, HNC).
- Experience (10 years+) operating as a Project Manager managing and delivering multiple projects of varying complexity & value.
- Member of the APM, APM certified or equivalent (or experience-based).
- SMSTS / SSSTS qualification.
- CSCS card qualification.
- First Aid qualification (optional).
