What you'll do

  • Supervise daily operations to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operational staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance and career growth.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate objectives, share updates, and foster a culture of open communication.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, conducting risk assessments and implementing necessary safety measures.
  • Manage inventory levels and oversee the procurement of materials and supplies to support operational needs.
  • Prepare and present operational reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
  • Handle any operational issues or conflicts that arise, ensuring they are resolved promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and high performance.
  • Participate in training and development programs to stay current with industry trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in an operations supervisory role, preferably within the utilities or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in the workplace.
  • Proficient in using operational management software and tools to track performance and manage workflows.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A degree or relevant qualification in operations management or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.

Nice to have

  • Experience in the utilities or construction industry is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a role focused on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
  • Certification in health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH) would be beneficial.
