What you’ll do

• Lead and supervise a team of mobile fitters, ensuring efficient operations and high‑quality service delivery.
• Conduct regular inspections and assessments of HGVs to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
• Schedule and allocate work to team members, optimizing resources and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
• Provide hands‑on support in the repair and maintenance of HGVs, including engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all team members.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and any issues encountered during repairs.
• Liaise with clients to discuss service requirements, provide updates on vehicle status, and address any concerns.
• Train and mentor junior fitters, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and tools, coordinating with suppliers to ensure availability.
• Implement and uphold company policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
• Participate in regular team meetings to discuss performance, share best practices, and identify areas for improvement.
• Contribute to the development of operational strategies aimed at enhancing service efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an HGV fitter or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and maintenance.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to manage a team effectively.
• Relevant qualifications in vehicle maintenance, such as an NVQ or City & Guilds certification.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members and clients effectively.
• A valid UK driving license, with the ability to operate HGVs as required.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a mobile work environment.
