What you'll do
- Operate HGV vehicles to transport wastewater to designated treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of vehicles to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute daily routes efficiently, minimizing delays and maximizing productivity.
- Monitor and report any issues or anomalies encountered during operations, including vehicle performance and site conditions.
- Maintain accurate records of waste transported, including quantities and types, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on service delivery and address any concerns or queries.
- Participate in training programs to stay updated on industry best practices and safety standards.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of wastewater materials as needed, ensuring proper handling and disposal procedures are followed.
- Support the team in emergency response situations, including spill management and containment efforts.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and service quality.
- Foster a positive team culture by actively participating in team meetings and sharing insights and suggestions.
Requirements
- Valid HGV license (Class 2 or above) with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in waste management, logistics, or a similar field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to waste transportation and handling.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and accountability.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in challenging situations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational demands.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy loads as part of the job responsibilities.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is an advantage.
