What you'll do

  • Operate HGV vehicles to transport wastewater to designated treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of vehicles to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan and execute daily routes efficiently, minimizing delays and maximizing productivity.
  • Monitor and report any issues or anomalies encountered during operations, including vehicle performance and site conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records of waste transported, including quantities and types, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on service delivery and address any concerns or queries.
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated on industry best practices and safety standards.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of wastewater materials as needed, ensuring proper handling and disposal procedures are followed.
  • Support the team in emergency response situations, including spill management and containment efforts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Foster a positive team culture by actively participating in team meetings and sharing insights and suggestions.

Requirements

  • Valid HGV license (Class 2 or above) with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in waste management, logistics, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations related to waste transportation and handling.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and accountability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in challenging situations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by operational demands.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy loads as part of the job responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is an advantage.

  • Experience in operating vacuum tankers or similar vehicles is a plus.
