What you'll do

  • Oversee the financial aspects of construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring effective cost management and budget adherence.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets, analyzing project specifications to provide accurate financial forecasts.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess project costs, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to facilitate smooth communication and project execution.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best terms and pricing.
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports to stakeholders, highlighting key metrics and project status updates.
  • Manage variations and claims, ensuring that all changes are documented and justified in accordance with contractual obligations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior quantity surveyors and support their professional development.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and enhance project delivery.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and evaluate bids from contractors to ensure value for money.
  • Implement cost control measures and identify opportunities for cost savings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.

Requirements

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale construction projects and delivering them on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools, such as Cost X, Bluebeam, or similar applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions quickly.
  • Professional membership with a recognized institution (e. g., RICS) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
