What you'll do
- Provide legal support on a variety of commercial contracts, including but not limited to supply agreements, service contracts, and partnership agreements.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to ensure they meet legal standards and protect the interests of Lanesgroup.
- Advise internal stakeholders on legal implications of contractual obligations and potential risks associated with agreements.
- Manage disputes related to commercial contracts, including pre-litigation negotiations and settlement discussions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment on contractual terms and compliance.
- Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws and regulations that may impact commercial contracts and disputes.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline contract management processes within the organization.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on legal best practices in contract negotiation and dispute resolution.
- Assist in the preparation of legal documents and correspondence related to disputes and contractual matters.
- Monitor and report on the status of ongoing disputes and contract negotiations to senior management.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to identify legal risks and opportunities associated with business initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with external legal counsel and other advisors as needed for specialized legal issues.
Requirements
- A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial law, particularly in contract management and dispute resolution.
- Strong understanding of contract law and the ability to interpret complex legal documents.
- Proven experience in negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and contract management software.
