We operate 24/7; therefore you will be required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on-call rota. Full training, PPE and company equipment will be provided so that all our drainage engineers can undertake work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.
About the Role
Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer-focused people to join our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to wastewater network and drainage problems:
- Travel to residential sites via HGV in a two-person team, powering a high-pressure water jet for restoration.
- Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
- Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
- Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
- Deliver good customer service.
- Maintain good H&S practice while carrying out works.
- Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
- Comply with health and safety responsibilities, including PPE and safe site set-ups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
- Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
- Liaise with the client regarding progress and any updates.
- Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, utilising correct PPE, lone worker system, etc.
- Dynamically risk-assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
- Provide support to colleagues.
- Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
- Report any defects or malfunctions in regards to training.
- Carry out risk assessments and adopt a mature approach to risk perception.
- Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
- Perform any other reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by management.

About You
The ideal candidate will be hardworking, respectful and compliant with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of high-pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and confined spaces) are an advantage.
