What you'll do

  • Operate HGVs to transport waste water and other materials safely and efficiently to designated treatment facilities.
  • Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working order and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to execute waste water management tasks, including pumping, cleaning, and maintaining waste water treatment systems.
  • Monitor and record data related to waste water levels, flow rates, and other relevant metrics to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as spillages or equipment failures, to minimize environmental impact and ensure public safety.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports of daily activities, vehicle maintenance, and waste water management operations.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge related to waste water management and HGV operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of best practices for waste water management and environmental protection.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on waste water operations and address any concerns they may have.
  • Support the team in achieving operational targets and objectives while maintaining high standards of service delivery.

Requirements

  • Valid HGV driving license (Class 2 or higher) with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience in waste water management or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and practices, particularly in relation to waste management.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair is advantageous.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and operate heavy machinery safely.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.

Nice to have

  • Experience in operating vacuum tankers or similar vehicles.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) or NVQ in Waste Management.
  • Familiarity with environmental legislation and best practices in waste management.
