This is a role where your finance expertise becomes your edge, helping shape decisions, challenge assumptions, and drive outcomes that really matter. You’ll join a finance team that’s proud of the culture it’s building. Supportive, ambitious, and focused on creating the strongest collective of talent in Yorkshire. You’ll develop advanced technical skills, stronger commercial instincts, and accelerate your career.

About Lanes Group – We’re the UK’s largest independent water and wastewater services provider. Since 1992, our 4,000+ people and cutting‑edge fleet have kept the country’s water systems flowing, and we’re continuing to grow, fast.

Now let’s talk about what you’ll do:

You’ll spot trends, explain performance drivers, and improve reporting so we have the insight we need to make confident decisions.
  • Forecast & Planning: You’ll support budgeting and forecasting cycles and build models that show different scenarios and outcomes. Gathering information from across the business, you’ll help create reliable forecasts and highlight opportunities. Your work will directly influence business decisions and help shape the strategy.
  • Data & BI: You’ll work with data from multiple systems (ERP, CRM, operational tools) to build automated dashboards and data models using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Qlik. You’ll answer business questions, identify patterns, and help teams make informed decisions. Along the way, you’ll ensure data is consistent, reliable, and easy to use.
  • Business Partnering: You’ll work closely with colleagues across finance, operations, sales, and leadership to provide insight and guidance. From business cases and project assessments to scenario analysis and financial reviews, you’ll help teams understand the commercial impact of their decisions. You’ll be a trusted partner, turning data into clarity and action.
  • Process Improvement & Innovation: You’ll look for ways to make reporting and workflows smarter and more efficient. You’ll automate repetitive tasks, implement best practices in analysis and visualisation, and encourage better use of data across teams. Your ideas and improvements will help the finance function work faster, smarter, and deliver real commercial impact.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Analytical and financial modelling skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex data and drive strategic insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and tools, including Microsoft Excel; experience with business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is advantageous.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to sustainability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
